Prettier than Solomon

Prettier than Solomon

Prettier than Solomon

Prettier than Solomon.

To put in context, Solomon had so much gold at his disposal

His wealth and taste fascinated those in surrounding nations and kingdoms.

Prettier than Solomon.

The flower petals, delicate, gentle with vibrant colours.

Petals with their patterns and symmetry I could stare at them dancing in the winds for hours.

Prettier than Solomon.

Yellow, purple, pink, even blue flowers.

Some grow in the wild, among the weeds and valleys, others under bridges, and mountain tops.

Prettier than Solomon.

You wildflowers, and lilies of the valley.

It’s unfair how you have no anxious emotion, and can so easily thrive and trust God.

Prettier than Solomon.

I heard you wake up all pretty and nourished

That all you need is air and water because God made you to grow and trust Him.

Prettier than Solomon.

The Bible said I’m more precious than you

That if God cares for you, oh wildflowers, and lilies of the valley, that He cares for me more.

Prettier than Solomon.

God, teach me to be as carefree as those flowers

Teach this almost apathetic yet ever worrying heart to care less than I do right now.

Prettier than Solomon

To bathe in God’s showers of love and care

Just like those wildflowers and lilies of the valley, under His light and grace everyday.

Prettier than Solomon

I understand that God is the source of both hope and faith

So in order to bring life to this dimming heart, my solution is to ask God to give me both.

Prettier than Solomon.

That God will give me a heart knowledge of Hebrews 11:1

That faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.

Prettier than Solomon.

Apparently I’m not to be anxious about tomorrow, Matthew 6:33 says that.

But the solution is to  instead seek and run after God’s kingdom and righteousness.

Prettier than Solomon.

Surely God will show me what seeking His kingdom and righteousness mean.

Meditating on His Word is my first step to getting out of this despondent state of mind.

This poem/thought process is based on and is inspired by the passage below.

For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! Do not worry then saying, ‘what will we eat?’ or ‘what will we drink? Or ‘What will we wear for clothing? For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
